Devil's Food: Broken Glass Cupcakes

what you'll need: 

1 box devil's food cake mix
1 container of frosting
1 tube of red decorating gel
1 c. corn syrup
3 c. sugar
1 c. water
1 candy thermometer 

  how to: candy glass

For the cake, follow the box or homemade recipe if you have more time.
Put a baking sheet with wax paper to the side. To make the glass, combine
corn syrup, sugar and water into small sauce pan. Clip the candy thermometer to the pan
and put the stove to high heat. Stir constantly. When the thermometer reaches
300-302 degrees, quickly pour onto backing sheet. Let the glass
 completely harden. Once it is cool and hard, drop the pan for medium
height for the broken glass effect. Place into already frosted
cupcakes with red drizzle.
