amazing friends wrapping up a wonderful weekend

Last weekend was such a whirlwind. We were able to meet so many people as a part of ALIVE magazine's VIP blogger event. Saks Fifth Avenue held a luncheon for all of us and we were able to get a inside look at all of the new collections in the showrooms. We were blown away by the amazing handbags, prints, sunglasses and the enormous shoe section, a definite "kids in a candystore" moment. We discovered the inside outs of a new social media app, Bonfyre, at a breakfast at the Cheshire Inn and much more. We can't wait to share with you all that we have learned and covered from the past weekend in our future posts so we hope you stay tuned.

We have finally made it to spring, and although St. Louis just experienced a rare spring snow storm we are ready to jump into spring colors and trends. This look has a little bit of mod edge look to it, literally. We used two colors, one for each hand, Essie's "Mint Candy Apple" and "French Affair." To create the black edge we used a black nail art pen. You can also use a nail art precision tool or a small paint brush.
To complete the look we topped it off with Essie's "Matte About You" top coat to create a matte finish.

Happy spring!

red riding hood

red caplet, vintage; leather leggings, ArdenB; blouse, forever21; white dress, ASOS; rodeo boots, Urban Outfitters; belt, forever21; necklace, vintage

We are constantly inspired by classic fairytales and stories. This post pays tribute to a character that was not known for her name, but for what she was wearing: little red riding hood.

handmade cards

This past weekend, we had the distinct honor to attend STLFW as part of Alive Magazines' VIP Bloggers getaway.  With that, we were showered with many wonderful gifts and swag bags from some pretty fantastic sponsors.  We wanted to thank all of them, especially the ones who couldn't attend, so we decided to make our own personalized cards.  We simply bought some card stock and envelopes from a local craft store, Archivers, and adorned the cards with embellishments including studs, rhinestones, stamps, and paint.  We always are looking for excuses to DIY and this was the perfect opportunity!

STLFW: Spring 2013

This weekend we had the honor of sitting front row at the GLOW: GO LOCAL St. Louis fashion week runway finale hosted by Laura Kathleen of Project Runway. Unique from other fashion weeks we've attended and followed, the show featured spring collections from local boutiques and fall collections from St. Louis' own designers. The mix was a refreshing and exciting way to look at what is current and what we have to look forward to.

Designer Paulie Gibson incorporated splashes of color in his menswear collection with classic patterns and 1970's shapes. Bold graphics and colors were what made Amy Johnson's collection stand out.. Lastly, Michael Drummond's "Exquisite Corpse" collection left us memorized. The color palette and unparalleled energy literally killed it: Tim Burton would have approved of the high-fashion "Nightmare Before Christmas" come-to-life collection.

Overall, we loved the combination of the high waisted pieces with crop tops, collars to hoods, racing strips, flowy silhouettes and strategic cut-outs.

Boutiques featured- 10denza, Blush and Devil City
Designers- Paulie Gibson, Amy Johnson and Michael Drummond
